The Hooters – 2016 In Review, 2017 Ahead
Dear Friends and Fans,
Well, another “Hooterized” year is in the books, and another notable one it was. We kicked off our
36th Anniversary “Live 20+16” Tour at the Borgata Event Center in Atlantic City on Memorial Day Weekend.
It was our first time in that venue, and we thank everyone for coming out, and for the festive hospitality throughout.
Then it was back across the pond with several European trips for summer shows in Germany, Sweden, Norway, and Switzerland.
Highlights included a spirited outdoor street fest in Calw, Germany (home of famed author Hermann Hesse),
playing the massive Sweden Rock Festival on a beautiful afternoon, and trekking up to the mountain-top
tent for a gig in the castle ruins of Tuttlingen, Southern Deutschland.
Most memorable of all was going down 1500 feet to play in the amazing Merkers Mine, deep underground.
Just getting to the stage was quite an adventure, zipping through winding tunnels and caves.
“Danke Schoen” to all the fans who also made the somewhat terrifying trek down the freight elevator
into the salt mine, hard hats and all. But it was well worth it — what an unforgettable venue!
Bringing it all back home, we played our first show back up in the Lehigh Valley in many years,
at the scenic Steel Stacks Pavilion outdoor venue, with the massive skeleton of Bethlehem Steel
providing a very striking and unique backdrop. Thanks to all who attended, and to the friendly staff
who made us feel so welcome our first time there.
And then it was back to the Philly area for a pre-Thanksgiving Homecoming party of sorts,
with another wild weekend of shows at the Keswick Theater, a great new home for the band.
Our pre-election party was a good one (much needed too!), and thanks here again to the spirited fans
and to the Keswick staff for all their help and generosity. Letís do it again...
Finally, it was back for one more show overseas in mid-December, as part of a Holiday/Radio celebration
in Stockholm at the Friends Arena. Though we were met with snow and early sunsets (at 3 pm!),
it was a great way to end our year, and get back home just in time for the holidays.
And now we are already looking forward to shows this Spring and Summer 2017, with overseas dates being announced,
plus some local gigs to follow. Stay tuned to the "Give The Music Back" Tour 2017.
As always, big thanks to our families, and appreciation to all the fans, friends, promoters,
and especially our hard-working loyal crew for letting us take this crazy show on the road every night.
It continues to excite and inspire us, and we look forward to seeing you all again soon.
Love you guys.
—Cheers and Best Regards!
